Please do not make copies of TBI Printed or Digital Media for sale or distribution. If you become aware of others who are making copies of our materials, please advise them that this practice is unethical and make the incident known to us.
Fair Use Guidelines should be observed regarding situations in which it would be beneficial to the purchaser of one of our publications to copy a very limited amount of one of the TBI Media items. Fair use of our materials can occur without our written permission as long as the following requirements are met:
- The amount of printed or PDF text that may be copied is limited to a single paragraph or less;
- The amount of material that may be copied from our MP3 files is restricted to the audio sample that is in place on our website.
- The use of the excerpt is related to increasing awareness of our publications through reviews, news reporting, teaching, scholarship or research.
- The source of the copied material is completely identified in a recognized bibliographic format;
- The permitted use will not diminish the potential sales of the publication by TBI Media.
In all other instances, questions about making copies or publishing excerpts of our material should be addressed to TBI Media (click here to Contact Us). We will respond promptly in writing with our decision or contact you for more information about your request. Thank you for your help in upholding these guidelines and for your support of Thinking Body Institute Media.
Some of our publications and digital media do not have current copyright assignments or are in the public domain. In 2015, we consulted the United States Copyright office regarding the possible official transference of the copyrights assigned to those works to the heirs of the creators or original publishers; no such reassignments had been made. With the support of members of the discipline who are aware of the goals of the Thinking Body Institute, we proceeded to prepare the historical items for republication with enhancements intended to make them more useful in the 21st century. Those improvements include converting analog audio to the MP3 format, providing new or improved indexes for locating key subject areas in texts, enhancing the quality of anatomical illustrations and designing cover art that is reminiscent of the designs used at the time of the original publication. The additions and improvements we have made to TBI Printed and Digital Media items are protected by United States copyright regulations pertaining to derivative works.
When a copyright notice appears on any TBI Printed or Digital Media item, it serves to inform the purchaser that Thinking Body Institute Media has the exclusive right to:
- Reproduce the copyrighted work through all forms of printing, photocopying, scanning, faxing, or any other electronic means;
- Prepare derivative works (e.g. translations, revisions, abridgements, video or audio adaptations or by any other method through which the work could be transformed;
- Distribute copies for sale;
- Display the work publicly;
- Authorize individuals or companies to do any of the above.

If the process of downloading digital files is new to you, it may be helpful to enlist the assistance of a friend or colleague who is familiar with your equipment. It will not be possible for TBI Media to interpret the unique download procedures and storage systems of your particular computer.

TBI Media offers two recordings of André Bernard’s Constructive Rest Sessions in the MP3 file format. An MP3 file is a compressed audio file commonly used to store music and audio books. Most desktop and laptop computers automatically recognize MP3 files and open them in the appropriate program. For example, Windows operating systems use their built in “Media Player,” and store downloaded files in an area of the hard drive called “Downloads.” Before you begin downloading, please be sure that you are familiar with how the process works on your equipment and where your downloaded files are stored. It is essential to use a desktop or laptop and a reliable internet connection to receive your purchase; smart-phones and tablets should not be used.
The file sizes for Bernard’s MP3 Constructive Rest sessions are quite large, between 53 and 56 MB or Megabytes. Download times can range from less than 2-4 minutes to 10 minutes or more depending on the speed of your internet connection.
TBI Media offers the digital or ebook version of Influences on the Work of Mabel Elsworth Todd in the Portable Document Format (PDF). This format is used to deliver digital versions of printed documents reliably, independent of the software, hardware or operating system that may be in use. The PDF version of Influences on the Work of Mabel Elsworth Todd presents the text, diagrams, photos and other illustrations exactly as they appear in the printed book. However, this format does not provide for electronic adjustments to the font or presentation that would allow you to view the text on an ebook reading device, such as one of the many Kindle ebook readers.
Most computers automatically recognize PDF files and open them in the appropriate Adobe Reader program. If you are not familiar with this process or have not used it in a while, please check the software on your computer to be sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader. Go to https://get.adobe.com/reader/ for a free update of the most current software.
The file size of the Influences ebook is approximately 7 MB. You can expect your download to be finished in a minute or two depending upon the speed of your internet connection.
